The rapid and continuing advancement of AI capabilities poses serious social, political, and economic challenges. The goal of this speakerseries is to raise awareness of these challenges among Berkeley faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates, in the hope that their combined expertise and efforts may contribute to addressing the challenges.

This series features talks by experts from academia, civil society, and industry on AI risks and mitigations, and attracts regular attendees from a wide range of disciplines, including Econ, Law, Philosophy, History, and Sociology.

The Berkeley AI Risk Speaker Series is hosted by the Kavli Center for Ethics, Science, and the Public and Co-sponsored by the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society, the Kavli Center for Ethics, Science and the Public, and the Berkeley Risk and Security Lab. It is organized by Will Fithian, Associate Professor of Statistics, and Wes Holliday, Professor of Philosophy.
