The Kavli Center is selected to Co-Host Neuroethics 2026
We are excited to share that the Kavli Center for Ethics, Science, and the Public is part of a team that has been selected to co-host Neuroethics 2026, the annual meeting of the International Neuroethics Society (INS). Together with our partners at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics and the UCSF Bioethics Program, we will co-organize the 2026 conference under the theme “Cultivating Community and Building Bridges.”
Our proposal emphasized the importance of public and community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to fostering a more inclusive neuroethics community. We are honored that this vision resonated with INS leadership and members during the competitive selection process.
In response to concerns from international scholars about political and visa-related risks of traveling to the U.S., the INS and the organizing team are pioneering a new multi-hub format. Inspired by sustainability efforts in other academic societies, this model will combine in-person gatherings at regional hubs with virtual linkages between them. The Bay Area will serve as the U.S. hub, and additional hubs are already in planning, including one in Italy hosted by SINe (the Società Italiana di Neuroetica).
We’re proud to help shape this more equitable and accessible model for international convening — one that reflects the urgent need to address structural inequities in both neuroscience and academia.
